about

At one point this song was going to be called Alibi, which is probably a better name (but it didn't fit in with the rest of the names ya know?)(contrived right?). Its the only track that references the album title, so for that it holds a special place in my heart, and obtained the coveted album position of Track 3.

Recording took a while - I think I tried every piano sound and combination of piano sound in the world. Then obviously ended up choosing one of the first one I tried - a basic electric piano

No metaphors in this one - straight up saying it as it is. Felt very strange playing this out live the first time, as its a bit heart on the sleeve and i'm a bit of a closed book at the best of times. The songs about dreams of a nice house in the countryside with a fire and someone ya love, and being content with your lot.

lyrics

I'd love to have a wife
A constant in my life
A feeling to abide by
A body in the night

I'd love to wake a day
And feel its all turned out
And look upon your face
With emptiness of mind

I'd love to find, an alibi
I'd happily grind, in labour while
We seek, the quiet
And peaceful life I've seen,
In Sistine dreams
I hope they're right,
Coz I feel alive

I'd love to compromise
And settle on the times
Take pleasure in the finite
Take comfort in your smile

I'd love to feel the grace, and warmth of fireside
And see a thousand days,
Content and satisfied

I'd love to find, an alibi
I'd happily grind, in labour while
We seek, the quiet
And peaceful life I've seen,
In Sistine dreams
I hope they're right,
Coz I feel alive
